Pretending in Hong Kong
“Pretending in Hong Kong” is a supposed food festival that happens on the 30th of February 2020, an unexisting date. My hometown is in Northern China, at a distance of about 1220 miles to Hong Kong, in South China. There are subtle differences in diet, dialogue, and social norms, but I am familiar with their culture as I have watched their movies and often eaten their food. This project is reflecting on my memory of Hong Kong through the use of Hong Kong’s “Dim Sum” as the subject in the piece.
